[sticky post] Master List

Figured it was about time that I actually did one of these things.  If for no other reason than it's good to be organized!

Here be stories!Collapse )
(So in an attempt to update my journal a bit, I realized I never posted the remaining chapters of what I had completed on this story.  This is the final chapter that I had completed; this story is unfinished and remains on hiatus as of 7/31/12.  However, I wanted to at least share everything that I had done so far.  Who knows, maybe one day I will complete it.  I do still love the story premise.)

Disclaimer: I do not own nor have any affiliation with DC comics or WB. I am merely “borrowing” their property for a little mind exercise. And to have fun with the characters. :o)

Author’s Note: For continuity purposes, this takes place before “Destroyer”. I’m sticking mostly with the animated universe, though if some elements of the comics are thrown in, blame it on Wikipedia and all the fun fanfics that have better acquainted me with the comic-verse. This story has not been beta’d, and any mistakes are mine.   Thanks for reading!!!

Author’s Note, Part II: I forgot to mention last chapter, but I’m completely disregarding Supergirl going to the future in Far From Home. I couldn’t leave her out of the fun!

Chapter Two: Hopelessly Devoted to YouCollapse )

I'm sure most of you have already seen this, but it's news so good it should be shared more than once!

Supreme Court strikes down DOMA and Prop 8

True, the rulings do not give blanket marriage equality to all in the country, but it at least takes the federal government out of the equation of recognizing some legally (state) recognized marriages over others. And the Prop 8 case returns marriage equality to California, one of the largest states in the nation. It's great momentum, and honestly about the best that could be expected with the cases that came before the court. Most legal analysts (especially SCOTUSblog, which is pretty well-regarded and often very accurate in their predictions) thought this would be the rulings.

I'm celebrating still, because this is a GREAT outcome! And hopefully it's another propellent in the equality movement that's spreading across the nation!

Fangirling from an early age...

Tonight, as I fangirled out while watching the original (1990) "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie, it finally sunk in that I have been fangirling since before I was 4 years old. On a whim, after seeing the 4 pack combo on sale at Target (really I only cared about the first 3 in the combo, the 4th movie is a reboot, I believe), I just had to buy it. And I was not disappointed in rewatching and remembering just how much I enjoyed what, unbeknownst to me at the time, was my first fangirl attachment.

Cut for rambling nostalgia and a bit of fandom meta...Collapse )

Anyways, I really had no real point to this posting--other than posting my rambling thoughts on fangirling from an early age--though it is nice to post something again. So what about any of you out there? What was your first "fandom"? And what do you consider "fandom"? How does childhood play revolving around characters from a TV show/Book/Movie/Comic Book factor in? I'd be interesting to read other people's opinions on the topic! (Or if you just want to have some nostalgic TMNT fangirling moments with me, that'd be wicked! Cowabunga!)

So I'm on Tumblr now...

Hey everyone. So I've broken down and joined Tumblr. Still not crazy about the format, and I'm not sure exactly how much I'll be doing over there (aside from reblogging .gifs, which was the primary reason I joined Tumblr), but if you'd like to "follow" me my Tumblr is larsinger29.tumblr.com. I'd also love to follow you as well, so comment with your Tumblr and I'll add you!

I'm also gladly taking recs for Tumblrs to follow, including those focusing on DC Comics, Torchwood/Doctor Who, Happy Endings, Arrow, and anything else cool you all might suggest!

(Oh, I suppose I should tell you all that I also have a Twitter Handle: LarSinger29. Feel free to follow me on that, though mostly I just retweet interesting things.)
Every March, American College Basketball has their March Madness tournament.  And while that's all good and fun for sports fans, fandom(s) has answered back with the annual Fandom March Madness Tournament .  So do yourself a favor, and go check it out!  Vote some, if you feel like it.  But mainly, enjoy the gifs, campaigning, and horse-trading that is mesmerizing to behold!

Trust me, it's worth it.  It's another excellent tradition on par with Porn Battle and the like!

Another year older, another year wiser...

First off, thanks to jolinarjackson for the fabulous v-gift for my birthday!  And also thanks to the others who sent me notes and well-wishes.  You are all the reason why I love being a part of fandom/girl-geek culture.

My birthday this year was pretty close to everything I wanted it to be: I went shopping for Christmas gifts, got to spend time with some of my good friends, saw "War Horse" on stage (it was magnificent! Made me tear up, which is pretty tough to do!), baked goodies and treats, watched tons of Christmas movies and specials, and genuinely had a great, relaxing weekend.  Oh, and I woke up to it snowing, which is hands down my first wish every year on my birthday.

I look forward to another year of discovering new friends, engaging more and more in my different fandoms, finding new fics and authors, and who knows, perhaps actually finding the time and motivation to do a little writing myself.  Oh, and hopefully going back to grad school (keep your fingers crossed for me!!!).  All in all, it's been a crazy past year with its ups and downs, making new friends and seeing old ones fade away, and finding new thrills and reasons to count my blessings.  But all things considered, it's a pretty fantastic life, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.  :o)
